Many products are produced on the principle
of planned obsolescence – meaning that the products are made in a way that they
are intended to break or become unusable after a given period. The consequence
is that the buying cycle shortens, and more products can be sold, just as it
often becomes cheaper to produce when the quality deteriorates. Often, there
will also be something that makes the product difficult to repair so that it
will be easier and perhaps also cheaper for the consumer to buy a new product,
rather than having the old one repaired.

This linear model ensures that we consume
our resources faster than we can obtain them. In the long term, the earth
simply cannot keep up! With a transition to a circular economy, with a focus on
the available resources as well as recycling and reuse, we want to create a
culture that is not characterized by ‘buy and throw away’.

Buy2Sell is an initiative to promote
recycling and increase waste utilization so that more things can be repaired,
and fewer things are thrown away. In fact, one of the elements of a circular
economy is that no waste should be generated at all. Products should be
designed to either perish and eventually become the elements from which they
were originally made, or designed so that the components and materials can be
taken apart. 

Buy2Sell strives for all functional
electronics to be reused. The recycling of electronics is an essential part of
the transition to a circular economy, and we are making significant efforts to
promote just that. For example, we specialize in sourcing for customers and
being able to “obtain the unobtainable”, to help extend the life of, for
example, older, but difficult to replace, industrial production plants that
have reached end-of-life, where spare parts are no longer produced.
